The port city of Marmaris is located in the south west of Turkey on the Mediterranean coast. Marmaris grew substantially during the 1980's and is one of Turkey's most popular tourist destinations. The town is set in an area of great natural beauty, has good beaches and two large marinas which make it one of the Mediterranean's top sailing centres. Blessed with the weather that Turkey is famed for you are guaranteed long hot days on the beach between May and October. Marmaris is one of Turkeys largest coastal towns and is dominated by more modern development than a lot of its neighbours, as the origins of Marmaris date back to before the 6 century B.C. there are however some sites of archaeological importance such as Marmaris Castle.

Night life in Marmaris is lively and a fantastic range of bars, restaurants and clubs for partying late into the night can be found along the main palm lined promenade. Take a stroll around the maze of narrow streets in Marmaris Old Quarter for a change of atmosphere, lined with old traditional Turkish houses, small shops and quieter bars where you can enjoy a cool drink after looking around the Bazaar. The near by Netsel Marina is well worth a look as it is home to many visiting luxury yachts, there is also a number of sophisticated waterside restaurants.
