One of
Turkey's most historic towns, Side is located on the Turkish Mediterranean
Coast on a peninsular and is a very upmarket resort. The old walled
town has retained its Turkish charm and has not been over developed;
there is plenty to see for those interested in Turkish history, the
17,000 seat Hellenistic theatre which overlooks the sparkling sea, the
remains of the Roman Temple of Apollo and a number of fascinating museums.
During
the day you can head for one of Side's lovely sandy beaches which are
located either side of the peninsular to the east and west of the town,
as well as sunbathing and swimming there are a wide range of watersports
available for the more energetic.
Side old town is a wonderful place for an evening stroll before heading
for one the many excellent restaurants, the many archaeological sites
are flood lit at night and make a very impressive backdrop to the town.
The main part of the old town is pedestrianised and has a great atmosphere
in the evenings and takes a while to explore all its narrow streets
and winding alleyways. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose
from and being a port town the main speciality is fish, especially in
the establishments near to the small harbour.

tends to be quiet small hotels and pensions, which make a great place
for a relaxing, get away from it all holiday. Larger hotels are mainly
located on the outskirts of Side near to the beaches. Transfer is around
1 hour 20 minutes from Antalya airport.
